Refunds, Cancellation and Withdrawal
Effective and last updated: 30 September 2026
The core journal is free and needs no card. This policy covers the paid parts of the Service: the Premium subscription and one-time AI credit purchases. It explains how to cancel, when a refund applies and the statutory rights consumers keep wherever they live. Where this policy and your local law differ, the law that protects you wins.
1. How to cancel#
- In the app: Settings → Billing → change plan to Free, or open the Stripe billing portal from the same page. The change is immediate and confirmed on screen and by email.
- Without signing in: use the cancel subscription page (the "Cancel contracts here" link in the footer). Tell us the account email and the plan. We confirm by email with the date the cancellation takes effect, normally within one business day.
- By email: write to [email protected] from the account address.
Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Premium until the end of the period you already paid for, then move to the free plan with your journal intact. Deleting the app, stopping use or removing a card does not cancel a subscription. Deleting your account cancels it immediately.
2. Our refund rule#
Subscription charges are not refunded for the remaining part of a period you have started, and unused time is not credited, except where this policy or the law says otherwise. If we charged you in error, charged twice, or the Service was unavailable for an extended period because of us, we refund the affected charge. Price changes never apply before your next renewal, and we tell you in advance; if you do not accept a new price, cancel before it takes effect.
AI credits are a one-time purchase delivered to your account immediately; they do not renew. Unused credits are not refundable, and purchased credits are forfeited if you delete your account, except where the law requires otherwise. Auto-reload is off by default and only runs within the threshold, amount and monthly cap you set when you turn it on.
3. Right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland#
If you are a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The period starts on the day you buy the subscription or the credits. To exercise the right, send us a clear statement (an email to [email protected], the cancel subscription form, or the model form below) before the period ends. We confirm receipt by email.
Subscriptions: at checkout you ask us to start the service immediately. If you withdraw within 14 days, we refund the price minus a proportionate amount for the days the service was available to you, within 14 days of your statement, using the payment method you used. In practice we usually refund the full amount for a first monthly subscription.
AI credits: credits are digital content delivered immediately. At checkout you expressly ask for immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once delivery starts, as the law allows. Credits that have not yet been delivered to your account remain refundable.

4. Rights that cannot be excluded elsewhere#
- Australia: our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For a major failure you may cancel and receive a refund for the unused part, and compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss; for a minor failure you may have it fixed within a reasonable time.
- New Zealand: the Consumer Guarantees Act applies and nothing here limits it.
- Brazil: you may cancel a purchase made online within 7 days of the purchase and receive a full refund (Consumer Protection Code, art. 49).
- South Korea: you may withdraw within 7 days under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, except for digital content you expressly asked to receive immediately.
- Canada: provincial consumer protection law, including Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, applies and may allow cancellation of a distance contract when required information was not disclosed or the service was not provided.
- United States: state automatic-renewal laws (for example California, New York and Illinois) apply. The renewal terms are shown before you pay, renewal reminders are sent for annual plans, and you can cancel online as easily as you subscribed.
- India: the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules apply; refund requests are processed within the statutory period.
5. How refunds are paid#
Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, normally within 5 to 10 business days of approval depending on your bank. We never ask for card details by email or chat. Chargebacks filed instead of contacting us may result in the account being suspended until the dispute is resolved.
